Both families have gathered at the guest house and they'e sitting around
the large dining table exchanging small talk as they eat turnovers for
which the establishment is famous. Some
are drinking coffee, others wine.
“Yes, this is where we spent our honeymoon,” your mother confirms,
“It’s perfectly preserved. Just like the
time we were here. Our lives really
began right here.” You nearly break down
knowing they will end, “Right here.”
But, you manage to keep control as you exchange knowing glances with
your husband, still you can’t prevent a few tears.
“Oh dear,” says your mother, “I’ve upset you.”
“Oh no, mom, it’s just so beautiful, so romantically beautiful,” and it
was, but not the reason you are breaking down.
